WFCU Receives
Award for Dedication to Fire Safety
WINDSOR , ON - On Wednesday,
June 25, 2008, Windsor Family Credit Union (WFCU) was awarded
the 2008 Fire Safety Partner Award by the Fire Marshal's Public
Fire Safety Council. The award recognized WFCU for its initiatives
to increase fire safety awareness throughout Windsor and Essex
County.
Since April 2004, WFCU has partnered with Windsor, Tecumseh and
LaSalle Fire & Rescue Services through the 'Change Your Clock,
Change Your Battery' initiative. Twice a year, firefighters
are invited to WFCU to answer questions and distribute batteries
and fire safety information to members.
"WFCU is doing their part to ensure residents have changed
the batteries in their smoke alarms. This partnership provides
us with another catalyst to help bring fire prevention awareness
to the community," said Fire Chief David Fields, Windsor
Fire & Rescue Services, who nominated WFCU for the award.
"To have been recognized for an initiative designed to support
the fire safety efforts of our local Fire & Rescue Services
teams reminds us (WFCU) and the community of the importance of
fire prevention and safety," acknowledged Marty Komsa, WFCU
President and Chief Executive Officer.
Recipients of the award are selected by a committee among nominations
submitted by Ontario Fire Departments.
The 2008 Fire Safety Partner Award was presented to WFCU by the
Fire Marshal's Public Safety Council at a ceremony in Toronto
.
